What is EFT?
Emotional Freedom Techniques, otherwise known as ‘tapping’ is a an evidence-based stress reduction technique that combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.
We call it tapping because we are literally tapping on meridian points while voicing specific statements.
EFT is a gentle technique that allows you to heal from unresolved childhood issues and past traumas that may be contributing to issues that are present in your life today.
How does EFT work?
By tapping on the meridian points whilst focusing on a stressful issue or problem, we are sending a calming signal to the amygdala which is part of the brain responsible for fight/flight/freeze.
The amygdala is also part of the brain responsible for emotions and memories. When thinking about the stressful issue/trauma or painful memory and tapping at the same time, we are essentially turning off the stress response, allowing the mind & body to feel calmer and feel differently about the issue.
We are in essence desensitising ourselves to the stress or challenge whilst tapping, turning off the stress signal and rewiring the brain.
