When I work 1:1 with clients, I usually recommend a book to help with whatever we are working on. As I was recommending a book to a client the other day, I had the thought that I should share a reading list as I feel reading always compliments the work that we do.
So here it is!
- Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself – Dr Joe Dispenza
- Mind To Matter – Dawson Church
- The Power of Now – Eckhart Tolle
- The Fear Cure – Lissa Rankin M.D
- You Were Not Born To Suffer – Blake D.Bauer
Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself by Dr Joe Dispenza
This book changed my life! “If thoughts can make us sick, can they make us well?” Dr Joe discusses the power of thoughts and how we have the power to change ourselves through meditation and our thinking. In his later book, Becoming Supernatural (spoiler alert – which is in part 2 of my recommended readings) he shares his scientific research on the neuroplastic changes on the brain after meditation.
It is an amazing book where I first learnt about quantum physics, the quantum model of reality, neuroplasticity and how our brainwaves influence our reality. It is such an empowering book because it gives you insight into the possibility of creating a new mind and breaking away from old limiting ways of thinking.
Mind To Matter – Dawson Church
I first learnt about Dawson Church at a Dr Joe Dispenza meditation retreat. Where Dr Joe researches meditation, Dawson Church researches EFT and in this easy to read book, he discusses the incredible power of our thoughts and intentions and how we can use our minds to create our lives. Similar to Dr Joe, Dawson Church explains how using methods like meditation and tapping daily can change our lives.
Dawson weaves in neuroscience, epigenetics and quantum physics together with incredible real life stories to build your model of understanding. It is an empowering read with practical exercises at the end of each chapter and links to free meditations.
The Power of Now – Eckhart Tolle
If you haven’t heard of this book yet, then you have ‘now’ (pardon the pun). Eckhart Tolle articulates how our mind is the natural enemy preventing us from going within and being present or living in the now.
A wonderful book to help with personal growth and build on your understanding of presence and acceptance. You will definitely view your your mind/ego through a different lens after reading this book.
It can be challenging to get your head around some of the content and for this reason Eckhart Tolle does have a book called “Practising the Power of Now” to help consolidate the information and learn how to apply it in daily life.
The Fear Cure
I have just reached the final part of this book and I have loved every word. This is another easy read where, Dr Lissa Rankin (a medical doctor) discusses how fear, if left untreated becomes a serious risk factor for many illnesses and diseases developing.
Lissa Rankin talks about how the root cause of every worry, stress or concern is fear and how to overcome our deepest worries and fears. She has a lovely way with words and articulates concepts in a way that is easily understood.
Through her own experiences, she shares how challenges in life help us grow and by connecting to our “inner pilot light” or connecting to what Eckhart Tolle refers to as Now, we can change our mind and body and heal from suffering.
Like Dawson Church each section ends with a practical exercise to help you with your own personal transformation.
You Were Not Born To Suffer
I read this book about 10 years ago and I am due for a refresher. It is one of those books that helped me realise how self-compassion is the key to overcoming ourselves and suffering.
Blake D.Bauer will guide you to understand how the most challenging lessons you’ll face in life are a key to heal and fulfill your life’s greatest purpose and reach overall freedom.
Each chapter ends with some reflective exercises to help you on this healing journey.
I hope you find a book on this list that you are drawn too. In my experience, the one that draws you in, is the one that your soul is nudging you to read!
